Recorded from Front Floor GA 20m from stage-towards Left Stack
First outing for my new Cardioid Shure WL185 mics. The bass was SOOO LOUD on the floor near the stage that im not convinced the mics took the giant overwhelming mountains of low F too well...there seems to be some distortion and grungy sound overall. This is notoriously one of the loudest bands in the world so perhaps i should have gone with some of my more tried and tested mics. But to compensate at least, being so close and with the mics being directional its a tight defined sound with punchy drums and guitar and virtually no echo from the stadium (MCG is notorious for its 1 second slap delay turning everything to mush). i give it 7.5/10 for sound overall.
First gig for their AU leg of the tour. Jailbreak hasn't been played in a long time, since the early 90s. Fans around me were excited. And whenever they got excited, they spilt their beer. By the end of the nite i was soaked. Ive seen ACDC live since '92 and i gotta say i think this is the last round for them. Angus used to be a guitar playing machine, now his timing is sloppy like the clock is broke. Brian cant sing any sustained note to save himself like the bellows in the bagpipes are blown out. Listen to Thunderstruck for a perfect example of the train wreck...they really destroyed it. It started to look like pensioner abuse up there honestly. They have always left long pauses between songs (longer than they should because they lose the vibe) but this time they were longer than usual and it felt like they needed the break to catch their breath and stay standing. One dood next to me between songs yelled "Hurry up and play you old farts!". Harsh, but they are sooo Cooked. I expect this is a last harrah and i dont expect any official live recordings comin out of this tour. At least i can say i was there.
