25 yrs since they first headlined the Monsters Of Rock Festival at Donington Park, Iron Maiden returned to make a record 5th appearance. It was very windy and this can be heard in the recording. The intermittent light rain wasn't too much of a problem. The show started with a fly-past by a Spitfire from RAF Coningsby. The stage set and set list was based on the "seventh Son" tour from 1988. There was a lengthy gap after Running Free but we didn't get any fireworks and I always thought Nicko had threatened to leave if they ever left Hallowed Be Thy Name off the setlist.
