A little history and some notes on the evening and the recording: i've only seen sabbath twice before, once at the ozzfest in '98 [which i remember nothing of] and the second at download in 2005 which was awesome. in 2012 my brother and i were set to travel out to the netherlands for a sabbath show at the ahoy stad. in rotterdam, but due to tony's ill health at the time, that tour was duly cancelled. i think they played a couple of shows in birmingham in may '12, but we never got to either of them. so, when seeing that sabbath were playing some more uk dates in december 2013, we just couldnt miss it and grabbed a couple of tickets for this show, the 22 december. wow what a place the nia is, its absolutely huge and im not used to going to such big shows, but what a show sabbath put on, this is howit should be done! i was stood about a half-mile back just a few paces to the right from that central reservation area where they do the sound and the lights or film, but the sound was so goood, i couldve been even further back and got just as good a good capture. just one glitsch in my taping and that is i missed ozzy's first shout out, as like harryh52 rec., he caught me out! a mini disc change took place after fairies wear boots; it was a swift turn around and absolutely no music was lost, just able to start up the second disc a few seconds before rat salad - right on! one funny thing; early on in the sabbath set, like into the void, i felt something pushing into my back and i turn around to find a young guy who looked like he was asleep with his head resting on me, ha ha... i hope youll enjoy my recording. i know there are at least two other sources for this nights performance, but please add this to your sabbath archives, i dont think you will be disappointed!
