I usually hate this venue. I've never understood the concept of this place, a giant toilet bowl design for a stadium called the Big O. Once inside, red devil horns flashing all over means I'm in the right place. AC/DC came 6 years ago at the same venue, that year the acoustics were terrible. The sound sucks, but tonight was pretty good.
This has to be the LOUDEST concert I've ever been to in 24 years since I've started his pastime. First saw them in '91 at the old Forum, then in '96 at the Molson Centre now the Bell Centre. Good thing I had intuition to bring some ear plugs. After the second song I've decided to wear them. Smart decision. The thunderous sound coming out of the amps convinced me to put them on.
The stage was huge with it's devil horn arch, 2 giant side screens + 2 other smaller side screens closing both ends of the stage. Amps were mounted next to the screens. Amps on the stage, amps in the middle of the venue. No wonder this concert was loud. During the encore break, I noticed the recorder was off. Arrggg... 'low batteries' flashing on the screen when I tried to restart. My bad should have bring an extra set, so I'm missing last 25 minutes.
Too bad Malcolm couldn't be part of this tour, suffering from dementia. Angus was... Angus, can't believe he's already 60. I think about 35,000 people showed up, back in 2009 53,000+ attended. AC/DC didn't disappoint their fans this evening. Did they ever? I can't recall being at a bad AC/DC show. This concert had just about everything that was called for: Pyros, bombs, the inflatable Rosie doll, swinging bell, cannons and of course the classics hits.
